effect of schizandra and 2-methyl-2-buteno-carbonic acid
EFFECT OF SCHIZANDRA CHINENSIS AND 2-METHYL-2-BUTENO-CARBONIC ACID ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF ATHEROSECLEROSIS.

Atheroseclerosis is one of the basic starting cause developing in the further alteration in the vessels. We propose a new approach to the effect of schizandra chinensis and 2-methyl-2-buteno-carbonic acidupon the course of experimental atheroseclerosis in rats.Three different series of experiments were run in a 61 rats.a) atherogenic diet, containing 20%cholesterol and 40% animal fat with vitamin D, b) subcutaneous administration of 0,2 g/kg of Schizandra chinensis and 2-methyl-2-buteno-carbonic acid, c) same in various combination with the atherogenic diet.Administration of long period of Schizandra chinensis and 2-methyl-2-buteno-carbonic acid was followed by depression of the blood cholestrol level in all rats and diminished or prevented the development of experimental atheroseclerosis.Due to its simplicity this method of interfering with the process of atherogenesis may be recommended for experimental use on a large scale.
